Welcome to Our Wagami Collection!

We carry an extensive inventory of Japanese paper - Washi or Wagami - and paper imported from Japan, Nepal, India, and Thailand.  Although many people are familiar with the term "rice paper", the correct word for Japanese paper is "washi". Washi refers to all types of Japanese paper including traditional handmade sheets.

Rice Paper = Washi Paper = Japanese Paper = Wa (Japanese) gami (paper)

Unryushi literally translates as "cloud-dragon paper".  On the surface of this gorgeous washi float hundreds of beautiful, coarse fibers.  All unryushi is made of kozo (mulberry),  but the color, coarseness of fiber and thickness of the sheets vary.  Unryushi is an excellent paper for artistic coverings, collage art, wrapping, and for fancy greeting cards.  This is one of our favorite Japanese art papers.  Click here and visit other unryu and textured papers.

Kozo Natural is one of our most popular and finest art papers.  This kozo (mulberry) paper was made in the Echizen area of Japan, famous since ancient times as a major paper making center.  This is a handmade paper which weighs 42 gram/m2 ,and is good for wood block prints, watercolor painting, Japanese calligraphy, lamp-shades, bookbinding, etc.
